Introducing MMSC# 17, "Bunches of trouble"

Hello everyone, hope you had a wonderful week. Can you believe we are into September already and MMSC17? Today I want to show you my Midnight Madness Sketch card using this stamp from our Sponsor, D-R-S Designs, they are offering a $50.00 gift certificate. They will be sponsoring Midnight Madness all month and so you will be able to see even more great cards from the Design Team featuring stamps from D-R-S Designs. We also have a weekly sponsor for a $20.00 gift certificate from the '7 kids College Fund'. Thank you for donating some great prizes, I am sure the winners will have fun shopping.

I really had so much fun putting together this card, it has been ready for weeks now, I started it up right away when the stamp arrived in the mail, Yippy. . . what a nice treat from our Sponsor!!

There is also so much more going on at Midnight Madness: You may have seen that we have a new monthly guest designer Carol Hurlock and our own DT Charlotte has sweetened the pot with her own blog candy, hop on over to the Midnight Madness blog to get all the updated information!

I used Pastel colors and green gingham paper, some very nice green ribbon to border the image and nice layered green flowers. I popped the elephants head and the giraffes head also and coated it with the crackle to give it a wrinkle effect, I am not sure if you can see that here or not.

Thank you for viewing my sketch card as well as the other design team cards and as always I appreciate your comments. Also if you have not already signed up for my blog candy, there is still time to do that. The Blog candy offering is posted under this blog post.

Thank you, Jane "ThePaperAffair"

Shabby Chic Cat Card, SWEET.

This poor little kitten is finally getting a home, I have had her posted for a few days, thinking of a challenge for my little Angel and I have decided to place her at "Let's get Shabby", I am going to try and get better at entering more challenges and actually knowing more of them and summer is winding down, that should be helpful. Here is a kitten that 'claims' she is an Angel, we probably all know better than that, I have the buttons and then a few more buttons and some trim and ribbon and flowers and more flowers and pearls and notice that the 'frame' is stamped with a Cherry blossom image and heat embossed with a color of embossing powder called Ancient enchanted gold, how is that for a fancy name and then I used my Martha Stewart Doily edge punch to give it a more 'Shabby' look. Thank you for your viewing, I appreciate your visit and comments.

Make your own Birthday card!!! A funny thing happened this weekend...

Hi all,

I just had a birthday, and yes I know I wasn't having any more of those but it just so happens that you either have one or you get dead so, I had one. You would not believe what my very good friend Geri left me in my mailbox on Saturday, a card challenge kit to make my own Birthday card, isn't she SO funny!!

I was very touched Geri went through all this trouble to put together a card kit for me, notice the letter that she wrote for me and asking me to accept the challenge, like the Midnight Madness challenge. She happens to be a card maker herself although she is not online with a blog but is a follower of mine and supplied me the 'tools' if you will to make the card. Using all the supplies given and none of my own, here is what I came up with. I am also supposed to sign it for her! Truly this is the best gift ever, this is so me and so thoughtful, I KNEW there was a reason that I keep her around, LOL or more like she puts up with me.

I hope this card is what you were thinking for me. Thank you so much! ~~~ Jane

Poporn anyone?? MMSC #16

Hello and Welcome to my blog. Popcorn anyone??? An old fashioned way to make popcorn. I got this print out of an old recipe book and all the recipes on the front and inside of the card. Sorry I had to cover up the recipes on the front (I read them and they sounded fabulous!) but I left you one to read and make on the inside of the card, see I do have a heart, LOL.

This card has no stamped or digi image, I used a recipe book only and also very nice trim and other altered art (Tim Holtz hardware and Prima flowers) and if you zoom in you will notice a popcorn charm in the lower left hand corner, this charm started the WHOLE popcorn process and theme. You know how ideas can just grow and grow!

Our sponsor this month is Simon Says Stamps and our weekly sponsor is 'The art of Michelle Perkett'. You can find their web sites at the side bar on the left hand side.

Also I want to take this time to let you know that I am offering both girl and boy blog candy to my followers, please see that offering in the lower posts below. Thank you all again for stopping by, I can't wait to see all the other card artists and their take on the sketch. Blessings~~~ Jane

It's Midnight Madness time again, introducing my MMSC # 15

Hello and welcome, thank you for stopping in. This challenge card was created with a digi image I recieved from our sponsor Christina, you and find her here. I think that her name on her blog is very fitting starting with the word sunshine! Christina also is donating over $50.00 in Bonus prize items to the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week, how generous is that??

While I normally do not do many children's cards, I really liked this airplane and I had a little man's birthday coming up so I made a card up for him. Notice the brad in the airplanes nose, it looks like a bolt and in the engines, smaller black brads - just one of the very many ways to personalize your card and digi image, I bet you have several ideas of your very own. I like the 'flyin in to say', and you can fill that in with whatever you need a card for. I did my card in red and blue, I like the background paper with the stars on it (and added a few of my own) to simulate an evening flight but you can do clouds or something else. I do have to say this was a hit, the little guy liked it but the Mom loved it, LOL. lot's of ohs and ahs, don't you love giving handcrafted cards?

"Simon Says Stamp" is our August Monthly sponsor, they are offering a very generous prize of a $50 gift Certificate for our monthly August winner, best of luck to all of you!

As always, we appreciate your support at MMSC and I always love hearing from you, Jane

Simon Challenge this week, ANYTHING BUT a card, alrighty then...

This is my second little boy album, I sure like making them.. I don't even have a little boy but maybe that is why! I love the colors and look at all the fiber on the three black rings. Hope you like it!!! Thanks Simon Says for lettting me play along and for your sponsoring Midnight Madness this month!!!

My Chiffon Flowers

A short while ago Priscilla over at 'Priscillastyles' had a tutorial on how to make chiffon flowers and I was a little apprehensive about making them because it involved a flame. I decided to give it a try anyways and here is my take on it:

The GOOD news, I did not burn down the house, the fire department was not called but I did do this outside.

The OTHER side: It is harder than it looks, it takes longer than you think!! Also your thumb gets sore by 'flicking your Bic' lighter, and I burned my thumb fingernail, I didn't feel a thing but I smelled it burning, not for you ladies that have manicures, you would have been very unhappy!

I did get them finished and I am fairly happy with them and I would do it again .. maybe. Let me know that you think of my first Chiffon flowers .. any advise?

MMCS14 - Easy Peasy Sketch sure to please!!

Our sponsor this week is Sue, our own Design Team member has her own online store. She has Digis, the one on this card is one from her store and I purchased this wood paper from her several weeks back and now she has even more in stock, they are very nice with different grains/shades of wood.

We are also excited to announce that "Simon Says Stamp" is our August Monthly sponsor, they are offering a very generous prize of a $50 gift Certificate for our monthly August winner, best of luck to all of you!

I can't forget you tell you something about my card! The wood paper was a pleasure to work with and notice that I used a Martha Stewart edge punch on the front of the card. I colored in the digi's and added some sparkle and placed a half pearl in each of the flower centers. I also placed a orange button on the card front and to secure the beautiful brown lace bow, I placed a 2 prong brad in the two holes that are in the button. I did think that that was very clever of me but I am sure you other clever crafters already knew all about that!!

Thank you for viewing my card, visiting my blog and taking the time to leave your comments.
Hope you have a great week.

I am calling this card 'Fall Offering', My Midnight Madness SC # 13, YES 13!!!

This card Rocks and is by far the heaviest card I have created yet, (and the most expensive, LOL) the squares are glass tiles in orange tones in time for fall, I know I know but it is not that far off. My BIL lives in Alaska and the leaves up there are starting to turn already. This is a stamped image then handcolored. Ribbon, layered flowers, leaves and a button was added for all those details we love.

I created an extra thick envelope for this card, if you need a template to create an extra thick envelope, Priscilla - our wonderful host at Midnight Madness is offering templates for purchase on her site right here. I love the front with the floral design embellishment and I shot a photo of the inside of this card, doesn't it make you wish for fall?

Thank you for your visit and please let me know what you think of using Glass tile on Your card. See you all next week for Midnight Madnesses next Sketch Challenge.

Midnight Madness August Sponsors

Simon says stamp is one of our sponsors this month, they have generously donated a $50.00 gift certificate to some lucky challenge card entry so be sure to enter a card and check back to the Midnight Madness blog often. You can see what Simon Says has to offer here.

I also wanted to show you my new crafting favorite, this is by Scor-Pal, it is there 1/4 Scor-tape and it is wonderful. I used it on this card for the ribbon and I have been using it also to create handmade envelopes. Diana from Scor-Pal was SO gracious to send out a roll of this tape for us to try and like I said, it is wonderful. The tape comes in other widths as well and they also have other wonderful products so go ahead and check out their site.

This tape was also used on my MMSC card above and when I created my extra thick custom envelope. This tape is a premium double sided adhesive and you can either cut the tape or tear it if you can't find your scissors.
