Spending Christmas with Jesus

I think this card turned out beautifully.  I used classic designer papers,  a real hymn page and sewn on the the hymn and card edges, added some distressing to the hymn edges and flower also.  The ribbon matches very well with the DP on the front.  The main image is a Christmas ornament.  Merry Christmas from Heaven, a heart felt card to send to someone that lost someone very dear to them.   I ran across this ornament while in search of Vintage treasures and finds for my new store called Era of Vintage and decided to purchase it for a Christmas card instead.

I have entered this card in the following Challenges, over at The Pixie Cottage where the theme this challenge is "Getting Stitchy".   The second challenge (and I have been meaning to join in long before this) is at Saturday Spotlight where this week is make an ornament or a project with an ornament, I made a card with an ornament attached. The third challenge is over at Quixotic Challenges and this challenge is on tearing.  It is hard to tell in these photos but I torn the small hymn page, distressed it and sewn it on the card front.  Elaine stated in her card write-up she was nervous about ripping designer paper and here I was ripping a hymn, is that a sin?   I sure hope not.  The forth challenge is at Pollycraft challenge blog where it is a Christmas theme, not very hard to do at this time of year.  The fifth challenge is at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday where they are also Christmas themed, how about that? The sixth and final challenge is at Sunday Stampers where they are asking for Holly or Ivy to be stamped.  Not all cards/images are stamped at times so I am hoping that the Holly on the metal ornament qualifies in their challenge. I am off to link up with the challenge blogs.

Thank you all for stopping by and leaving your comments, hope you have a good day. Blessings, Jane

"Now and Always", Christmas ~ MMCS29

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas ~ everywhere you go, including my house.  I am already starting to feel a little bit frantic, mainly because I have NO IDEAS for gift giving this year...  the worst is just roaming the stores but at least I roam them during the weekdays with no crowds.  Enough of that.. Phew!  Time to get on with our Midnight Madness card this week.  Today I have a purple and embossed silver card I think turned out nice but you can let me know what you think.

Our monthly sponsor is Michelle's Scrapbook and you can find her wonderful products here at her store.  Our weekly sponsor is Your Next Stamp thank you to both of our sponsors.

The card front, the silver paper is Metallic as is the white paper and the tree and snowflake are pewter.  This stamp I have had for many years and I believe it is a North Woods one,  they have lovely scenic stamps but also many sentiments too.  The bow I have to tell you I did something different for me and I think I really liked the look of it.  I made a slit on the very top of the card on the fold and I laced the ribbon through it, I am showing you today a few more pictures than I usually do of this card.  The tint is a tad off but you do get the general idea of what I did, I like how it looked on the inside, a bit plump but I made a thick handmade envelope and it fit just fine, the snowflake inside is also heat embossed with Silver.

There, that's it.  I also want to take this time to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  I did make a Thanksgiving tag I put on a gift bag and I was going to show you, I always like to give the Host/Hostess a gift for having my family as their guest but I forgot to pull it off the camera today.  I deleted over 1000 images from my camera, most of them were of cards/paper crafting and my new store items but it was time to empty it out and start anew.  Please leave a comment and I hope to do some blog visiting over the long weekend.  Give Thanks, Jane

Our first Christmas Decoration hung.

WOW, this is my first Holiday decoration that I got hung up.  Yesterday was Saturday and I was out all day and evening on my first Holiday event, I will, I hope blog that some time this week.  SO today was a stay at home and pretend I am actually doing something productive day.  My daughter was home all day so I need to spend most of that time with her, I have mentioned that she is severely handicapped so needs alot of assistance from me and hubby.  But I did sneak out and tag teamed with hubby to get these down from the garage and hung up on the outside lights.  I have more decorations to go *also this week* but I think these are so pretty, I am sure some of you have started also with your outside decorating.  I also was able to get to my favorite craft store Archiver's to pick up a few things and Megan went with me.  She always lets me know I am taking to long when she repeatedly runs over my foot with her wheelchair.  She is non-verbal so that is the clues you get, LOL.  I guess picking out paper is not very exciting to her.  We left shortly after that before some other unruly behavior starts.

This week will be a short week with the Holiday. Our family will be going to one of my sister's house.  I have 2 half sisters and 3 full sisters, this sister's name is Shirley, you know ~ like surely.  I guess I should say which of them I am referring to in future posts as I have been asked too, my family also visits me here.

I have an update on Annie, that cutie little Kitty my sister Donna now has.  Poor little Annie fell in the toilet !!  That is true.  Donna was cleaning up the kitchen and they have a bathroom off of the kitchen and heard a bunch of commotion in the bathroom so she went in there and Annie was just dragging herself out from the toilet and getting water all over the place.  Thank goodness Annie did not drown!

I also got an e-mail from  a good friend today that really made me *laugh out loud* !   She can't find her Christmas Tree, she can't find it in her house.  I mean a full size tree is large,  can you imagine?  I told her I was going to blog her, she said OH NO!  I promised I would not mention her name...

Thank you for stopping by and visiting, I'll leave the light on for you.... Jane

My Trip to the Apple Orchard

I went to the Apple Orchard several weeks ago with some friends and Although I have been to the Apple Orchard, I have never been to this one and we sure had a good time.  There was a chill in the air but dressed warmly and a nice drive out to the country too.  So, I thought I would share with you what we saw on our visit.  The name of the Apple Orchard was called "Pine Tree Apple Orchard".

Isn't this old stove cool, this was how it was throughout the whole place.

An Apple conveyor belt.

As you can see, there are selling the frozen goodies in there. Apple everything!!!

They had many large handmade quilts on the walls.

The checkout is straight ahead

I love that old bench, red rocker, old crates, white enamel pot!

This is one of the spots that they had for the Jams, Jellies and Butter.

The syrups are here, the had real Maple syrup, honey, cider

The grounds, not too many people about, I did say it was chilly, Most of the people where inside and in the inside eating area.

A wagon ride going out into the apple orchard.

What we bought, I just bought one of those jars of Apple Butter, we opened and shared those cookies.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed your trip at the Apple Orchard.

MMSC28, A Holiday Cardinal.

Hello and Welcome,

It's Tuesday so you know what that means!!  The Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge is ready for you.  Our monthly sponsor is Michelle's Scrapbook and you can find her wonderful products here at her store.

Our weekly sponsor is The Frantic Stamper Inc. offering a $20.00 sticker package, thank you to both of our sponsors.

On with my card, It's pretty bright and hard to miss, I think it makes a statement.  This is a Northwoods stamp which I am really beginning to like their products, they are in many ways, timeless.  It was hand-stamped and wet embossed and colored, glittered, I added some snow and popped the whole image out.  Notice the pretty Holiday greeting charm made out of Pewter.  This card I really liked how it turned out, this lady spend the day at the card SPA.  I just made that up, LOL.  SO, please stop and visit and I will pop on over and visit you also.  Have a great rest of the week all, I hope to too.  ~ Blessings, Jane

Give Thanks!!! My Six Challenges card.

Hello, Yes I know we have moved on to Christmas cards, I saw a banner on someone's blog counting down the days until Christmas - Yikes but I made this card for my niece and her husband.  The newlyweds had their first 'in sickness and in health' this past weekend.  He was in a serious car accident with injuries so although he was hurt it could have been alot worse and we are hoping for a full recovery.  So with Thanksgiving coming and they having so much to be Thankful for I thought of them with this card.  I also entered it in several challenges as well.

The first challenge is Basic Gray, Glitz and Bling, and to use a least one Basic Gray product, like that is a challenge, I love them.  I used the pearls and the buttons from them and the Glitz is the shimmery die-cut leaves and the bling is the buttons, ribbon and pearls.
The second challenge is over at Elaine's Quixoticpaperie" and her requirement is stitching, I got that!!.  I mentioned previously that my sewing machine was acting up so I had to bring her in and I got her back on Saturday and she is working like a charm now.
The third challenge is at Secret Crafter Saturday and their theme this challenge is Four Seasons and I picked Fall, I knew you knew that!!  The Fourth challenge is at Color throwdown this week is the colors orange/dark neutral/red/curry.  I used an orange sheet of paper as a back drop color, a dark neutral and for me a brown as the card base and leaves, the red as the red button, and curry as one of the leaf colors.  My Fifth challenge is at Creativecardcrew and their theme for this weeks challenge is Doodles, yes that is right Doodles, so I picked this stamp because it has 'doodles' around the "Give Thanks' sentiment.  My sixth and final challenge is at The Corrosive Challenge.  The requirement for the current challenge is EMBOSS IT.  I heat embossed the sentiment stamp "Give Thanks" in bronse EP.   Okay, I am off to link this card up.   Have a great night, Jane

New offer on My Blog Candy

This Blog candy is now closed, the winners have been drawn, claimed their prizes and they have already been shipped out, thank you all for your inquirers.

The Day is finally here.  I have the Blog candy winners.  As stated, I was going to award one to a USA follower and one to an international follower so  .....

The USA winner is:

Jessica Kittelson from Fort Bragg North Carolina

The International winner is:

Jeanet van der Lee from the Netherlands.

Ladies, I have already send you an e-mail privately of your win.  Please reply within 3 days to that e-mail with your mailing address so I can get those off to you, after three days if I do not hear from you, I will need to award that to someone else.

I want to thank you all of entering the give-away, I appreciate your following and hope that you will stay with me.  I am thinking of  Christmas Candy - naughty or nice????  SO STAY tuned for that.

Also I wanted to let you know what else I have been up to, I have been working on a BLOG store, I think the construction workers have gone home for the evening and you can get your own preview-and shop if you like.  You can find my NEW Era of Vintage Store here   Thank you all.  See you soon ~ Blessings, Jane

Bet you have been wondering if I forgot about my blog candy offer, NOPE, I am not THAT forgetful .  First off I was/am somewhat surprised of the interest in the blog candy, I don't know if it was the interest in the stamped images or the MS edge punch or both, most likely BOTH, LOL so . . . . here's the NEW deal.  It just so happens that I stamped TWO sets of stamped images while I stamped this one set, I stamped an additional set for myself to use, no sense in stamping only once, either way I still need to clean my stamps, right?  SO I have another set I am going to give away too PLUS, this past Friday I stopped in at my local craft store and YES, I looked for another MS Stars edge punch for you and they had one, so I am pleased to be offering you this:

I am going to be giving away TWO sets of this same blog candy.  Secondly, it appears that there are both USA and international followers that I have and I AM happy to see that so ONE will be going to my USA followers and ONE to my international followers, I will be looking at your profiles to get that information and do the best I can with that.   So although you will need to wait another 2 weeks to find out, you also will be increasing your chances because now there are two of them.

The same rules apply:  You must become a visible follower ....
          That's it.

If you have commented on this offer already, please only one entry.  New followers can comment here, I will of course be using both blog posts to random draw the winner.  Thank You and I hope that this is worth your wait.  Blessings,   Jane

Altered Magnet, Thank you.

Hello and Welcome, the tutorial today is a altered Magnet as shown above.

This is the Magnet I bought at Michael's in one of their bins and I decided to alter it.

I just so happened to have this paper pad at home, the stamp and felt embellishments. You can use anything you have on hand.

I have to say I fully expected to use my circle cutter for this but I decided to see if these scalloped circle paper punches would fit on this Magnet and to my surprise they did. This purple one is cutting my larger of the two circles. Since my picture is somewhat blurry, the product is a Marvy Uchida paper punch.

This is the smaller of the circle that I am now punching out, and this will go on the top of the larger circle.

Here they both are, cut out.

I first stamped 'Thank you' with my stamp from the above photo with a green stazon ink pad. I then glued on the larger one to the Magnet and then the smaller one onto that.

I am now going to be decorating my Magnet with these felt embellishments.

I am done, this is now on my refrigerator - actually my lower level freezer since my refrigerator is black. You can use other stamps or written words on your Magnet. For example for children's artwork or schoolwork, '"You're a star" .. have fun with it.

Thank you all for stopping by,~ Jane, "The Paper Affair".

MMSC27, Pretty and feminine.

Hello and Welcome,

On with our Sponsor information and then the details on my showcased card.

At Midnight Madness our monthly sponsor is Michelle's Scrapbook and you can find her wonderful products here at her store.

Our weekly sponsor is Michelle Perkett with her wonderful digi designs, you can find the Art of Michelle Perkett at her  Esty Store right here.

This card is so ready for anything, something stamped on the inside will transform it into whatever you need it to be.  The vase center stage is a stamp I recently purchased at Michaels craft store.  I colored it and glossed it in areas and added white half pearls, I also stamped the swirls on each side of the vase the embossed the design to add extra interest as well as in two of the corners.  I think this is a very feminine card with the pinks and lighter blues and the flower blossoms.   What do you think?

Thank you again for your stopping by.  My blog candy is still open, if you are interested in it, please sign up now as it will be closing soon.  Have a great day/evening.   Blessings, Jane

A Guy Birthday Card *Oh Nuts *

I am going to a guy "Surprise" Birthday party this weekend.  Inside it 'says "Another Birthday?"  I am also entering this into several challenges.   The sketch is for the 'A spoonful of Sugar" Challenge
and since this is a GUY card I am linking this up to The Polkadoodle Challenge which the requirements is a guy card with three brads which are in the upper left corner.   What better type of card to put TWINE on then a guy card?  Well, twine (which is run through the button) is the requirement for this weeks challenge at The Bellichallenge.

For my last challenge is for colorthrowdown.  I am missing the color durango which is a shade of rust but I used yellow for my star, I hope that they will accept my card there. I also want to let you know that this is a stamp a past sponsor, DRS designs gifted to Midnight Madness and I am using and loving it yet again.  Ok, you all KNOW I rarely enter a challenge other than my Midnight Madness SO I am somewhat proud of myself.   Anyways, hope the Birthday Boy likes his card and I am sure the party will be lots of fun.   Tell me followers, what are you thinking about this card?    LOL, Have a great day.  ~ Jane

MMSC # 26, Holiday Wreath Shimmer and Shine Card

Hello and Welcome,

Another week has come and gone and I hope it finds you well.  At Midnight Madness our monthly sponsor is Michelle's Scrapbook and you can find her wonderful products here at her store.

Our weekly sponsor is Heather Ellis at Digi Stamp Characters and you can find her at her Esty Store right here.

I handstamped this wreath image and colored it and added some clear  gloss for a little shimmer and shine and used a glitter pen on the bunches of grapes and added many gems in the corners.  Peeking out from the wreath is some glittery gold foliage and I used some wonderful wood paper which I think went very well with the image and design/style of the card.  It is very stunning in person.

I also entered this wreath in Our Daily Bread, Holiday Shimmer card.  What a fun challenge because it sure is fun to add shimmer and shine to a Holiday card!  The challenge is going on  right now at ODBD.

A side view.

I added several extra photos of this card, if you like you can view the inside and handmade envelope, I have this listed on ebay.

Thank you again for joining us at Midnight Madness, we enjoy your support.  Please note my blog candy offer has been extending for two more weeks if you are interested and have not already, please sign up now.  Have a great day, Blessings ~ Jane

My first song on my blog is for a good blogging friend of mine..

that is going through a bad time and it's for all you women that feel you are climbing a mountain or you just fell off of one.  "I am woman, hear me roar".

My Jaimie Cates card, send Jaimie some HOPE

SpreadTheLoveSendACard
Here is the card I am going to be sending out to Jaime, I hope that I can find some words that can offer her some comfort to her and her family during this horrific time. To find out more information on this tradegy and the Blop Hop for hope for Jaimie, please Click on here.

Here is some information about what happened:

"On October 4th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings."
Our hope is that everyone hopping around today will stop for a moment and think about Jaimie and her father and what life must be like for them now. One moment in time has changed their lives forever. We are asking that everyone reading this message please take a moment to make a card and send it off to Jaimie. You can make something very simple or much more involved, but please share some words of hope and love and let her know that people do care and want the best for her. Please send your card to the address below:
