My Chiffon Flowers

A short while ago Priscilla over at 'Priscillastyles' had a tutorial on how to make chiffon flowers and I was a little apprehensive about making them because it involved a flame. I decided to give it a try anyways and here is my take on it:

The GOOD news, I did not burn down the house, the fire department was not called but I did do this outside.

The OTHER side: It is harder than it looks, it takes longer than you think!! Also your thumb gets sore by 'flicking your Bic' lighter, and I burned my thumb fingernail, I didn't feel a thing but I smelled it burning, not for you ladies that have manicures, you would have been very unhappy!

I did get them finished and I am fairly happy with them and I would do it again .. maybe. Let me know that you think of my first Chiffon flowers .. any advise?

  2. I tried these too Jane. Yours came out perfectly! I love the colors and the centers you used. You'll see one of mine on next Tuesday's MM card. I think yours is better. But I'd make some more again. How did you color yours?

  3. I think they look gorgeous, Jane! I don't think I would do so well, but I may try it someday. You did such a fabulous job, and glad to hear that you didn't need to dial 911, since you would have trouble doing that with a burnt thumb. I can't wait to see these on a card now!!

  4. Next time try an Ame n' flame...the kind you use to light your fireplace or BBQ. Mine ran out, so I had to use the flick lighter. I think yours came out GREAT!!!! Practice makes perfect :) Also, if you thread the brad in and out of each flower pedal a couple of times, it makes them more puffy if that is a look you like :)
